V & A Museum

Unleash your child’s inner artist

Situated next to both the science museum and Natural history museum on Cromwell Road SW7, the Victoria and Albert museum is bursting with creativity. The abundance of museum choice on the same road often leads to the V&A being overlooked. Arguably there are not any interactive galleries targeted at little ones as there is at the other museums, however, if you plan your visit you can take advantage of the host of scheduled workshops offered here.

Before you visit, make sure to check out the ‘What’s on’ page on the V&A website. Throughout the year there is a variety of workshops for kids of all ages, big and small!

The museum itself does not charge an entry fee but donations are encouraged. Exhibitions and workshops however do incur a fee.

We suggest purchasing a membership if you intend to visit frequently. Memberships give you free access to all exhibitions, access to the members room and even family access that allows free access to exhibitions for up to four children.

Our top 5 must see pieces with kids

P.S. Paddling in the water feature of The John Madejski Garden is allowed so if you arrive on a hot summer’s day, bring a change of clothes and let you kids splash about for free!

Young V&A

The recently reopened Young V&A (previously called The Museum of Childhood), located in Bethnal Green, provides a family-friendly space where your child can run free and enjoy the exhibitions on display without the constant stress on your part of them potentially damaging displays or priceless objects. There’s something for every child (and adult!) here, from the first ever Barbie doll, to the story of everyone's favourite mode of school-run transport, the Micro Scooter.

The Young V&A hosts play sessions, creative workshops and much more, for babies up to teens. Find out what’s coming up at the Young V&A here.
