Room on the Broom

Author: Julia Donaldson

Illustrator: Axel Scheffler

Publisher: Macmillan Children's books

Written by the best children's author, Julia Donaldson (well we think so at least!), The Gruffalo is a classic story in every child's library. A friendly witch and her cat are zooming through the night sky on their broomstick when suddenly, the wind blow away the witch’s hat, bow and her wand! Luckily, on the ground there are some animals waiting to help out. A dog, a bird and a frog retrieve the witch’s lost items and each ask for a ride on the broom. The witch agrees, and each animals climbs onto the broom one after the other. But the broom is now so heavy that it snaps in two! They all go tumbling down into a bog and meet a hungry, greedy dragon. The witch’s new friends must think fast!

A beautiful tale of friendship and wit, common themes in the work of Julia Donaldson. Donaldsons rhyming text, accompanied by Scheffler’s lively illustrations. A much loved tale by every child.
