The Wetlands Centre


The London Wetlands Centre is nestled away in Barnes, South West London, providing an oasis within the city of London. The centre boosts vast open spaces, over-flowing with the sights and smells of nature.

There is a surprising amount to do and see here, especially during the spring and summer months. As well as what you might expect to find amongst the reeds and marshes, your little ones will also be able to discover playgrounds, scavenger hunts and the opportunity to meet and greet animals from critters to otters.

Children will adore wondering the oasis of lakes, ponds and gardens that are home to various wildlife, including colourful birds and otters!

Watch the eye-catching geese and ducks strolling the grounds. Enjoy the marvellous otters swimming, splashing and grooming under the waterfall. Or simply stroll around the grounds absorbing the fresh air.

There are several hides across the centre that are perfect locations for watching the natural wildlife. Wait patiently and you may see frogs swimming, lizards sunbathing and even dragonflies fluttering across the meadows.

The wetlands centre is not just for wildlife enthusiasts, it provides something for everyone to enjoy.

Getting there

 

The Wetlands Centre is located in Barnes, South West London.

Buses 33, 209, 378 and 419 stop nearby. The centre is also accessible by tube. The closest stations are Hammersmith and Putney Bridge however both are around a 25 minute walk away.

The centre also has a free car park.
